DeskOVIF

Network video device for Windows

Any screen, app or IP camera — as a camera your VMS understands

DeskOVIF publishes monitors, application windows, looped video files and RTSP cameras as a network video device compatible with ONVIF Profile S. Add the PC to Milestone XProtect or another compatible VMS/NVR just like a physical camera.

Every feature, no credit card. When it ends, no camera drops out of your VMS.

One installer, three jobs

Built for the three things integrators keep asking for

Workstation streaming

Send point-of-sale screens, control-room monitors or a single application window to the VMS. Operators steer the desktop with the PTZ joystick they already use.

Retail · POS · control rooms

Camera bridge

Bring up to 100 RTSP or ONVIF-compatible cameras in behind one device. Relay them untouched, or convert to H.264 when a source needs it.

Integrators · mixed camera fleets

Video loop simulator

Play recorded videos as live cameras to test analytics, AI models and VMS rules — without touching a production camera.

Labs · AI · QA

PTZ that drives the desktop

The VMS joystick moves the mouse on the captured screen

Pan and tilt move the cursor, a short zoom clicks, a long zoom scrolls, and presets press keys such as Enter, Escape or Alt+Tab. Each screen has its own PTZ, and only VMS accounts with the Operator or Administrator role can use it.

Register 070 · $0.00

PTZ commands

pan +0.00 · tilt +0.00

Drag the joystick onto a product, click with a short zoom, then press preset 6 (Enter) to pay — the way an operator helps a store from the VMS.

One PC, many channels

Every source becomes its own camera

Each monitor, each application window and each video file is a separate channel, with its own profile and RTSP path. Operators watch exactly the screen or app they need.

On the PC

DeskOVIF

In the VMS

Camera bridge

Every camera in. One device out.

Any RTSP camera, or ONVIF-compatible cameras found on the network, enters DeskOVIF and leaves as a channel of one standard device. Load-tested with 100 cameras at 1080p on a single PC.

4 channels

on one network video device: one address for the VMS, one profile and one RTSP path per camera.

  • Relay without re-encoding, or convert to H.264
  • Import ONVIF-compatible cameras found by discovery
  • An imported camera is asked again for its stream address when the old one stops working

Features

Made to run unattended

Screens and windows

Any monitor or a single application window, with or without the mouse cursor. A minimized window keeps its last frame on the air.

PTZ for the desktop

Joystick to mouse, a short zoom to click, and presets that press keys or start a program — set up per screen.

Video files as cameras

Each file is prepared once and then looped without re-encoding, so dozens of channels cost little CPU.

A real Windows service

Starts with the PC, and every part has a watchdog that brings it back on its own. The logs say what happened.

Security built in

VMS accounts with roles, digest authentication, replay protection, lockout of addresses that guess passwords, HTTPS and an audit trail.

RTSP your way

A friendly RTSP path per channel, and an RTSP-only mode that turns the device emulation off.

12 languages

The installer, the web console and the texts drawn on video speak 12 languages, including Arabic, Chinese, Japanese and Korean.

Isolated networks welcome

Perpetual licenses work offline for good, and activation can be done with a file from a PC without internet.

How it works

From install to recording in minutes

  1. Install

Run the installer on the Windows PC. Everything it needs, the .NET runtime included, comes inside.

  2. Add your sources

In the web console, pick screens, application windows, video files or cameras. Each one becomes a channel.

  3. Add the PC to your VMS

The VMS finds the PC on the network and records each channel like a camera.

Pricing

Pay per channel, the way your VMS counts cameras

Two lines and one rule: you pay for channels, never for features. Every feature is in every plan.

Annual · floating

Move the license between machines. It checks in over the internet and keeps working 30 days without contact. On an isolated network, choose perpetual.

Perpetual · one machine

Locked to one PC and works offline for good. Includes 12 months of updates, and the versions released in that time are yours to keep. Volume discounts: 10% from 5 licenses, 15% from 10, 20% from 20, 30% from 50.

Combine packages

Screen and camera channels add up on the same machine — for example 3 screen channels and 16 cameras.

Enterprise — by quote

More channels or machines than the plans cover, priority support, OEM and white label.

Questions

Frequently asked

Is DeskOVIF compatible with ONVIF?

Yes. DeskOVIF is compatible with ONVIF Profile S, so it works with any VMS, NVR or other software that uses the protocol: it is found by discovery and delivers one profile and one RTSP stream per channel.

Will my VMS see DeskOVIF as a camera?

Yes. The VMS adds the PC like any network camera, found by discovery or typed by address, and records each channel as a camera of its own. It is tested with Milestone XProtect, and you can also pull the RTSP streams directly.

Does screen capture need a signed-in user?

Yes — Windows only lets the screen of a signed-in session be captured. Cameras and video files stream with nobody signed in, and a notice card covers a screen channel until someone signs in.

What happens when the trial ends?

Nothing drops out of the VMS. Screens, windows and videos keep streaming with a watermark, cameras show a notice instead of their video, and everything is back to clean video the moment you activate a license.

Can I use it without internet?

Yes, with a perpetual license: activate it once with a request file taken to any device with internet, and it works offline for good. Annual licenses need to reach the license server at least once every 30 days.

How many cameras can one PC bridge?

The largest plan covers 100 cameras per machine. We load-tested 100 cameras at 1080p relayed without re-encoding on one PC: every stream at full frame rate, no restarts. Converting to H.264 costs more CPU per camera.
